“My day begins and ends with gratitude.” — Louise Hay
It seems fitting, after a wonderful Holiday season as we are heading into the new year, to explore this topic about which I am so passionate. It never fails…when I speak of success principles and mention Gratitude as one of the most powerful principles for success — I get looks of confusion.
Moe, what does gratitude have to do with becoming successful?
Everything!
Follow this process through: Every thought has a corresponding image, every image has a corresponding vibration (all is energy, and energy vibrates — see “The New Science of Life” — Rupert Sheldrake), every vibration has a corresponding action, every action has a corresponding result (Law of Cause and Effect — The Kybalion ).
Here is the flow: Thought — Image — Vibration (sometimes referred to as feeling) — Action — Result.
With this understanding, begin to think about the underlying thought that must be present to be ungrateful. To lack gratitude, you must believe that your situation is permanent and “as good as it gets.” Think about it…if you KNEW your current situation was temporary, and that new results and goodness were on their way, you would not be ungrateful — you would be excitedly anticipating the future. Wouldn’t you?
Not quite with me on that one? Let’s think of the opposite: to be grateful regardless of current circumstances necessitates that there is a strong underlying belief that:
“I may not be totally excited about my current results but I KNOW that they are nothing more than the outcomes of my past thinking and action. Because I KNOW that goodness and improvement are on the way, I am excited and grateful in advance.
Think about it again…If you absolutely KNEW, NO QUESTION that your desires were coming to you…would you be worried now or would you be excited, confident, and grateful in advance? You would also never toil, strain, or hurry — you would confidently go about your daily tasks in a focused and centered manner — because YOU KNOW what is coming!
“The mark of a champion is the ability to be grateful in advance of receiving the physical manifestation of the result.”
WOW! Think about that one for a week or two!
This proverbial “Attitude of Gratitude” (thought) creates powerful images, powerful feelings, powerful action and amazing results.
My challenge to you is to live in a constant state of awe, amazement, joy and gratitude — make a holiday out of everyday and you will be a magnet to money, people, and everything you desire.
Here’s an exercise to end your day with gratitude:
Make it a daily practice, every single day (no excuses), to end the day with gratitude. Every night before going to sleep ask yourself, “What are you grateful for today?” Then you must come up with 5 things (yes 5!) Often they are small things — there is so much for which to be continually grateful.
I challenge you to implement this exercise with someone you love (or even with yourself) just for this week, and experience how powerful it will be in your life.
Have a grateful week and make your life magnificent!
